another new day

last night was magical. seriously. we went to dinner right on the arno river with an incredible view of the ponte vecchi. to get to where we were eating we had to ring a doorbell and be let in to walk downstairs, through the italian national rowing club/league, and out on the river. there is literally no place along the river like that that people can eat at, other than us studying at this university. it was great. after dinner, we went to our first bar. after about 20 minutes, i was done. hahaha. not my scene and alcohol is gross and expensive. there was 6 of us that left our group at the bar for the most amazing gelatto in the world. i tried the tiramsu but plan on trying every flavor before we head home. we met the owner of the gelatto place, and talked to him and his friends for 2 or so hours. they were incredibly nice, and let us refill and serve our own gelatto! i couldnt really sleep last night-went to bed at 4am. this morning it seemed like everyone in our group slept in...i woke up at 12. half of our group was pretty much still drunk from the night before...

when we woke up, my apartment (me, ashley, melissa, christine) went to the fresh market to buy veggies. interestingly enough, veggies are super cheap while chocolate and junk food is incredibly expensive. i guess that is why europeans are much thinner. haha. anyways, i got four huge tomatoes for 85cents and a bundle of bananas for 1euro. there are definitely ways to eat cheap, its just not my most desirable food. haha. oh well. after the market we went to the supermarket to get noodles, sauces, potato chips, cookies, etc...in all, i spent 13 euro for a week of groceries by spending my money wisely. thats what i need to do the rest of the trip.

oh, and thank the lord that i found soda for really cheap. coke is 1 euro-still kinda expensive for the amount you get.

tonight our group is cooking dinner together and kinda relaxing for another busy day tomorrow the milva and luca (our "mom and dad" and our lifesavers over here). sunday, we are all taking a train to the Mediterranean for the day on the beach before classes start on monday.

still in the adjusting phase for sure...im positive that by the time we are fully adjusted, we will be coming home. its a lot different. im thankful for everyone who has kept me in their prayers...i need it!

bye, until tomorrow!
